After a normal, uneventful pregnancy we started discussing the possibility of being induced due to precipitous labor. At 38 weeks we finalized plans with the doctor to be induced the following week at 39 weeks. A week later on July 11th, we called the hospital and got the go ahead to head in to be induced. After arriving at the hospital and checking in, we finally got the cervidil tape in place around 10am. They wanted to put me on pitocin but I refused, wanting to try something a little less aggressive first. After a couple of hours I started feeling crampy and the monitor started showing measurable contractions. I paced up and down the hallways trying to get the contractions to become more regular and intense. This seemed to help a little bit, but when the midwife came in to check my progress around 4:30pm I was only dilated to 4cm. I was rather disappointed and we discussed possibly switching to pitocin. The midwife decided that she would break my water, then start the pitocin. She broke my water at 4:45pm, which immediately kicked my labor into gear. Half an hour later at 5:16pm I delivered a beautiful baby girl weighing 7lbs 2oz. We named her Kelsie Joy, and she is just that :)
